The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, while speaking with troops of the 130 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, Ogoja, Cross River State, said he will improve the welfare of soldiers across the nation.

Stressing the need for team work, he encouraged his men to always co-operate with other security agencies to promote information sharing.

He also expressed the Army’s loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that the troops in the North-East are hitting Boko-Haram hard.
Buratai said “Here, back in the barracks, we have taken some steps to ensure that the accommodation strength is improved.
“As I am here today, we are taking stock and assessment of some dilapidated structures that require renovation, and we would do that very soon. We are also looking at the issues of medicals and the issue of your children’s education.
“We have already set up a committee to go round and assess all the schools; especially as it regards poor infrastructure as well as the arbitrary or high school fees that have been charged over the years.
“We want to make it more affordable. Essentially, we want to address all our welfare issues totally.”
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai was appointed to the position by President Muhammadu Buhari on July 13, 2015.
He is the 26th Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria.
