The news of Ogogo's passing was announced by his daughter, Kira Hassan, in an emotional video, distraught about the death of her father.

Readers will recall that the actor's family made a public plea for medical recommendation after his health rapidly deteriorated and led to hospitals rejecting him.

The family revealed that they needed medical professionals or facilities that could offer further care for their father, who they disclosed has stage four cancer. The family also clarified that they were not asking for financial donations but for access to appropriate medical help.

The plea was swiftly echoed by top celebrities, including actors Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Jide Kosoko, and Sola Sobowale.

Jide Kosoko later revealed that the family and colleagues have received hundreds of offers from people who claim they have medical, spiritual or other forms of assistance that could help the veteran actor. However, the sheer number of offers has made it difficult to determine who can provide the appropriate help, especially as Ogogo remains in hospital and is not in a condition that makes moving him from one location to another easy.

Until his death, Taiwo Hassan was one of the Yoruba movie industry's most popular actors whose spirited performance dazzled viewers for four decades. His death creates fresh wounds in the Nigerian movie industry, which is dealing with the pain of losing 40-year-old actors Alexx Ekubo and Tope Osoba to cancer in 2026.
