The company stated that this is an emerging outbreak and like all other manufacturers, it doesn't yet have access to the new virus (2019-nCoV) for testing.

As a result, RB is not yet in a position to confirm levels of effectiveness of their product against the new strain.

The global leaders in health and hygiene went on to state that their products have been tested against other coronaviruses (such as MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV) and have been found to kill those. Although the 2019-nCoV is a new strain, this virus is very similar to other coronaviruses.

The global brand promised it will continue to work with its partners to ensure that they have the latest understanding of the virus, route of transmission and will test the level of effectiveness of its product range once health authorities make the strain available.

The house of brands with products sold in nearly 200 countries is already playing its part in combating and containing the outbreak of the virus. RB has donated £5.5 million in cash and products to assist in the mobilization of medical staff to treat those affected and provide soap and hand sanitizers to hospitals in Wuhan to help contain the further spread of the virus.

The global giants stated that it is vital that accurate, evidenced-based information is conveyed to the public so they are properly informed about the importance of good hygiene at all times, but particularly during outbreaks.
