The suspect was on his way to attack a rival group, when the patrol team from Ilaro division in Ogun State, sighted and arrested him. Items found in his possession include two guns, a knife, four live cartridges, and Indian hemp.

Operatives of Ogun Police Command, have arrested one Olamide Olabode at Oke-iganmu area of Ilaro/Papalanto road, in the Ewekoro Local Government Area of the state.

Olabode, who’s a known notorious member of the dreaded Eiye confraternity, was nabbed on Friday, October 28, 2022, on his way to attack members of his rival group.

In a statement in which Olabode’s arrest was disclosed, Ogun Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspect was nabbed by the patrol team from Ilaro division, who sighted the suspect and two others on a Bajaj motorcycle.

The police spokesperson added that the suspected cultist, who was sitting at the back, quickly jumped down from the motorcycle and ran into the bush with a bag.

He was hotly chased and arrested, while the other two sped off on the motorcycle.

“On searching the bag with him, two locally made shotguns, four live cartridges, one knife and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered therein.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a leading member of the Eiye cult group, and that they were heading to Agodo village for an operation,” Oyeyemi added.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, directed that the suspect be transferred to the anti cultist unit of the State Criminal Investigation Departments (SCID) for a discreet investigation.
