“Messiah Is For The Lord Only!” Judge Orders Change Of Baby’s Name

It’s crazy how people carry on with their religion and beliefs these names but naming a child Messiah is truly absurd. Call him Moses, Hosea, Ezekiel, Mary, Amos, Tabitha whatever biblical name a mother wants to use but keep what’s sacred, sacred!

That was the reaction from Judge Lu Ann Ballew to Madam Jaleesa Martin who decided to call her son Messiah thinking it was a great remembrance of God to her family, really? Messiah's case ended up before Judge Ballew when Jaleesa and Messiah's father could not agree on the baby's last name, resulting in a child support hearing at Ballew's Cocke County Chancery Court.

Judge Ballew made it clear that «The word is a title and it's a title that has only been earned by one person and that one person is Jesus Christ,» To clarify why she made that decision to change someone else's baby's name, Ballew added that, «It could put him at odds with a lot of people and at this point he has had no choice in what his name is.» Instead of Messiah, the judge demanded the 7 month old should be called ‘Martin’ - Martin DeShawn McCullough - after his parents.

Seems the judge was the only one happy about that change because the kid’s mother insisted that she will appeal to that judgment because, «Everybody believes what they want so I think I should be able to name my child what I want to name him, not someone else.» To top it all, she said, «I was shocked. I never intended on naming my son Messiah because it means God and I didn't think a judge could make me change my baby's name because of her religious beliefs.»

However, Martin will not be calling her son , regardless. Maybe she should take that time to think about it. It’s for the good of her child and not her like the judge put it. We know some people go about calling themselves ‘Jehova” or “Jesus” but com’on Messiah?

So what do you think: is the judge right or not?
