Jowizaza’s father, Jezco Oil founder Joseph Ezeokafor, reportedly kidnapped while praying on Anambra mountain

• He was allegedly abducted while praying alone on a mountain in Awka without his security personnel.

• Lawyer Chukwudi Iwuchukwu disclosed the incident, saying the businessman was taken away by unknown gunmen.

• Ekwulobia community reportedly postponed its annual New Yam Festival over the incident, while police are yet to officially confirm the report.

Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, the billionaire founder of Jezco Oil and Jezco Group and father of Nigerian socialite Jowizaza, has reportedly been kidnapped in Anambra State.

Reports claim the businessman was abducted sometime last week while praying on a mountain in Awka.

The development was made public by lawyer Chukwudi Iwuchukwu, who shared details of the alleged incident in a Facebook post on Sunday.

According to Iwuchukwu, Ezeokafor reportedly went to the prayer ground alone without his security aides or the police officers attached to him, something he had allegedly done several times in the past.

He said the businessman was in the middle of prayers when unidentified gunmen allegedly swooped in and took him to an unknown destination.

The incident has reportedly left many people in his hometown of Ekwulobia in shock, with residents anxiously hoping for his safe return.

Iwuchukwu also claimed the situation was so serious that the community decided to postpone its annual New Yam Festival, a celebration that is said to have never been delayed before.

According to him, the community felt it was not the right time to celebrate while one of its most prominent sons remained in captivity.

“Sir Joseph Ezeokafor, a Nigerian billionaire businessman, the founder of Jezco Oil and the Jezco Group, who is also the father of Nigerian Instagram celebrity Jowizaza, was reportedly kidnapped last week from a bush in Awka, in Anambra State.

“Apparently, the old man went to the mountain alone to pray and seek the face of God without his security details and his policemen attached to him as it has been a normal practice for the billionaire businessman in the past.

“In the course of the fervent prayers and his vulnerability, he was picked up by unknown gunmen who took him away to an unknown location.

“The community where he comes from, Ekwulobia, has been thrown into confusion and mourning ever since the news of the abduction broke in the community.”

As of the time of filing this report, the Anambra State Police Command had not officially confirmed the alleged abduction or announced any rescue operation.

The reported incident comes as concerns over insecurity and kidnappings continue to grow across parts of Nigeria, with prominent individuals increasingly becoming targets of abduction for ransom.
