Go Organic on Your Skin

Most of us underestimate the importance of cleansing with a simple natural product. The catch phrases: “Brand New Anti-aging technology” and “New- Advanced formula” seem to be our watch words, yet very few of us know what is in these products.

It is important to start simple and build up on KNOWLEDGE and not be simply sold on flash packaging. More often than not “sudden” outbreaks on our skin or persistent dandruff issues have simple root causes and solutions that are just as straight forward.

A number of women approach me with this issue, looking for a natural cure-all that will make their spots disappear. Typically by this point they have tried and tested every miracle cure on in the market which worked for a time, and then just stopped working.

1)      Acne medication: Salicylic acid is a very common ingredient found in skin products that claim to treat acne. While it works to effectively remove dead skin and prevent pores becoming clogged, most people are unaware of its occasional side effects: dramatic irritation (typically breakouts), redness, tight skin, and peeling. And a number of people use products designed for those with acne when they do not in fact have acne.

2)      Make up: Make up is a beautiful thing and I LOVE IT, but it is a cause of many of my life's woes. It. Builds. up.  And if it is worn every day, it builds up even more. And the issue does not lay just with your pores being clogged, but with the makeup brushes and pads also which have a tendency to cause skin irritation and end up in spots.

1)      Stay away from hardcore acne creams:most of the people I have spoken to and seen typically did not have major issues to begin with. Your skin needs to be weaned off of Salicylic acid by switching to natural exfoliators, some of which can be found even in your kitchens; Raw Sugar, Seas salt and Baking Soda are a few of the most popular(yes surprising!) options! Combine with Honey or Virgin Coconut oil to give your skin a little more love!

2)     WASH your face Morning and Night, and WASH your brushes/pads regularly: It would seem really obvious, but most of us forget to do these things regularly. Do not use wipes. WASH. Preferably with a natural black soap. The reason being, we are trying to rid ourselves of unnecessary chemicals. If your skin is breaking out/irritated, you do not want to use more chemicals, you need to let your skin Balance out, harmonise. In this way you will learn what works for you and what does not.
