Nigeria's under-20 team known as the Falconets had to incorporate laundry duties into their task on the pitch.

The Falconets at the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica had to wash their jerseys after the game.

This was revealed in a report by veteran journalist Colin Udoh on social media.

According to the report, the players' equipment at the tournament were inadequate hence improvisation to wash used jerseys.

The team had to wash their jerseys as they were provided with three sets of green home kits and two sets of white away kits.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has a sponsorship deal with international sports brand Nike but pieces of equipment are not available in abundance.

The players reportedly were paid $50 as daily match allowance and no bonuses. With jersey's being washed the players were also not provided footwear and had to borrow money to buy Nike sneakers.

The revelation about the Falconets washing their jerseys came as a result of their stop-over flight in Turkey en route to Nigeria.

The Falconets departed Costa Rica to Turkey but were unable to catch a connecting flight and were forced to sleep at the airport

A quote in the piece by Colin Udoh said, “We’ve been on a trip to Nigeria since 6:30 am Monday.

"We are currently sleeping at the Istanbul Airport awaiting a 6 pm Wednesday flight Istanbul time to Abuja.”

Despite contacting the NFF led by Amaju Pinnick the team were forced to sleep on the airport floor and chairs.
