Anambra fire sevice boss reiterates commitment to fire safety
Dr Martin Agbili, Anambra State Fire Service chief, said the service was ready and committed to sustain its efforts in preventing and controlling fire outbreaks in the state.
He said the service would increase fire safety procedures for the people.
Agbili said this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Awka.
He said that Anambra state fire service would stop at nothing to protect lives and hard-earned properties of the state residents .
Agbili said the service had recorded huge results in its service and was very proud to celebrate the World International Fire Fighters Day (IFFD).
“I was happy and humbled with great humility to celebrate the occasion with theme “ Act Together To Build A Positive Fire Safety Culture”.
“I was happy because the service has been equipped with modern fire fighting tools and personnel, ready to educate the pubic on fire safety tips and also fight fire outbreaks once it occurs.
The fire chief promised to live up to expectation of the general public in providing quality services when it beckons, and appealed for public support to achieve its goal of increased productivity and efficient service delivery.
Agbili assured the people of his continued plan to achieve a better fire safety environment for the people and called for public support to all the Anambra fire service efforts, to give seamless service because it could not do all alone.
He reminded the public about the need to see fire service as a channel through which we could build a fire safety friendly environment because the fighters were ever ready to discharge their duties at all time .
Agbili said the service was willing to work with the public in the area of fire safety and management and sounded the importance of switching off electrical appliances once not in use.
He said that the unwavering efforts and support of the Anambra Governor , Prof. Charles Soludo, to Anambra State Fire Service and welfare of its workers would surely be reciprocated through efficient and speedy service delivery of its product to the people.
Agbili said that the service was very effective because of huge synergy between the fire service and the Ministry of Power and Water Resources under Mr Julius Chukwuemeka, and that of the Head of Service, Mrs Theodora Igwegbe.
He commended their doggedness and collaboration in the ministry which had yielded a great success so far in the fire service and commended the Permanent Secretary Mrs Ifeyinwa Uzoka, for her unreserved administrative role in encouraging firefighters.
Agbili reassured the public of dedication, commitment, sacrifice and selfless services and promised to maintain his status as Regional Co-ordinator for Africa Continent, IFFD.
