The nominees for the 2015 edition of the Oscars were announced today,Thursday, January 15, 2015. There were some good surprises, and of course bad surprises.

Topping the list of bad surprises is the movie 'Selma' and it's cast being snubbed in their respective categories.

Ava DuVernay’s biopic about Martin Luther King Jr,'Selma' got just two nominations; for best picture and best original song.

The movie's lead actor, UK born Nigerian actor, David Oyelowo who stars as Martin Luther King Jr in the movie, also missed out on a best actor nomination.

Also surprising is the absence of director, Ana DuVernay in the 'best director' category. The nomination would have made Ana the first African American to be nominated in the category.

There has been angry reactions as regards the 'Selma' Snub.
