Due to the promotional demands of Spectre, Craig stated in 2015 that he would no longer play James Bond.
This disclosure came after a long period of uncertainty regarding whether he will be playing the character following Craig's comments in 2015 suggesting that he has no interest featuring in a future project.
The movie star revealed that he is currently in talks with the producers of the series in what would be his final outing in the adaptation of Ian Fleming's spy novel.
For the actor who admitted to being discreet regarding his involvement, it is all about marking his last appearance on a very high note.
“I have been quite cagey about it. I have been doing interviews all day and people have been asking me and I think I’ve been rather coy. But kind of felt like if I was going to speak the truth I should speak truth to you.
“We’ve been discussing it, we’ve just been trying to figure things out. I always wanted to, I needed a break.
“I think this is it. I just want to go out on a high note and I can’t wait."
Until recently, a list of actors have constantly made the news round based on assumptions that they will be replacing Daniel Craig who last featured in "Spectre", one of the 007 series.
The likes of Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddleston, Aidan Turner and Idris Elba were rumoured to have been considered for the role.
If the latter had played the role in the upcoming production, he would have made history by becoming the first black person to act the role of James Bond.
The actor had this to say about rumours linking him to a role in the movie.
“I’m probably the most famous Bond actor in the world, and I’ve not even played the role".
Other movie stars who have played the spy character in the 007 movie include Pierce Brosnan, Sean Connery, Roger Moore and others.
