On Thursday night, April 30, 2015, Avengers: Age of Ultron raked in an applaudable $27.6 million after opening in North American theaters.

This feat has seen the Disney and Marvel Studios' tentpole grossing over the $300million mark globally with the early foreign tally of $287 million.

According to reports, the movie didn't disappoint as it has surpassed $18.7million grossed by the first Avengers in May 2012 after its debut on a Thursday night. It is even touted that the record-setting $207.4 million by The Avengers for the weekend, would be toppled by Age of Ultron to become the top opener of all time at the domestic box office.

The movie has joined top record-holders, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, The Dark Knight Rises and Twilight Saga for top Thursday night grosser with a minimum of $30million on their first Thursday nights.

Age of Ultron is rolling out in a raft of additional foreign markets this weekend and it's expected to be helped by the May Day celebration worldwide.
