Documentary on late singer, Amy Winehouse, has emerged as the second-biggest documentary debut ever in Britain.

'Amy', the controversial documentary chronicling the life and death of ate singer, Amy Winehouse, had the most successful debut in had a successful debut over the weekend.

Directed by Asif Kapadia, The film which had earlier premiered in Cannes, is currently the second biggest documentary opening ever in Britain.

 

Bringing in $800,000, 'Amy' is also the biggest opening for a homegrown doc in Britain, taking over from the 2004 hit Fahrenheit 9/11.

The documentary which has received positive reviews,  has been rejected by the late singer's father, who is reportedly making his own version of doc.
