The FG has promised that there will be no bias with the allocation of housing units built under the Federal Housing Scheme (FHS).
Leadership reports that he has promised to do away with favoritism or bias while allocating housing units to be built under the Federal Housing Scheme (FHS).
Speaking to newsmen in Maiduguri, Fashola stated that FG housing units will be shared with no regards of anybody's states’ of origin and economic status in society.
He went on to reveal how the FG intends to achieve this by saying that the houses will be allocated according to location.
He said: “The ultimate beneficiaries of these houses under the Federal Housing Scheme; will be the residents of the states, where the houses are being built to meet the national housing needs of all people residing in the 36 states of the federation.
“I prefer to use the word residents to indicate people who live or work in the states where the houses are built rather than those who are indigenous to the state.
“Houses built in Bauchi, for example, were for the residents of Bauchi in Bauchi state. That is the workers in Bauchi, both from public and private sector, who qualified based on whatever premises used to decide allocation of the houses.”
This latest statement from the housing minister comes after the FG just promised to finally put an end to Nigeria's housing shortage.
Speaking on behalf of the current Buhari-led administration, Mustapha Shehuri, the minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, said: Indeed, the ministry’s plan to build mass housing units in every state of the federation for public workers over the next three years, under a public private partnership arrangement has reached an advanced stage in terms of implementation."
What do you think? Will Fashola keep his word?
