Vice President, Global Product Marketing, Huawei,  Clement Wong  revealed to Pulse Nigeria in at the company’s headquarters in Shenzhen, China that the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus launched with the objectives of looking great as a mobile phone and being able to capture beautiful things.

“Dual lens is the perfect solution for perfect pictures”, Wong said.

“Taking photos or using a camera phone is the top one usage of mobile phone users”.

This action comes at a time when more and more people are addicted to taking selfies, pictures of their lifestyle and sharing their everyday life on social media.

In order to give people the ability to capture artistry through images, Huawei collaborated with renowned German camera manufacturer Leica, using lenses from this optic enterprise for it’s dual camera.

According to the Huawei Vice President, Global Product Marketing, their new slim sleek smartphone camera offers images with vivid colours and crisp details. One lens is RGB; the other is a monochrome sensor giving users the chance to change their camera settings without having to apply a filter after taking a picture. The P9 is 5.2 inches full HD, 1080p resolution while the P9 Plus is 5.5-inches. Both phones have an eight megapixel front-facing camera.

Wong admits that this invention of having dual cameras on the Chinese company product is not new to them. In the past, phones with dual cameras had one big camera to take a picture and a smaller camera to measure the distance. However, he says the objectives of Huawei are different.

He said the beauty of the P9 was creating a slim phone with a camera with the same functionality as a DSLR camera adding that the dual lens was the best way to keep the phone slim with the ability to capture light.

The P series was first launched three years ago. Since the conception of the first series, the Chinese company has launched the P7, P8 and P9 with each passing year. Also available in the P9 series is the Huawei P9 lite which has just one lens.
