CBN cuts CRR to 25%, holds benchmark rate at 13%

Concerned by the seeming shortage of cash in the banking system as well as the fragile macroeconomic environment, the Central Bank of Nigeria's (CBN) Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) on Tuesday reduced the cash reserve requirement (CRR) to 25 per cent, down from 31 per cent in order to ease banking system liquidity.

Slow growth worries analysts as MPC eases CRR with N780bn

Analysts yesterday expressed concerns over the slow growth of the economy, saying that the N780 billion released to the banking sector, courtesy of the reduction of CRR to 25 percent by the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) might be redirected to investments in fixed income instruments.
