Armed robbers reportedly kill Gov's aide

The Chief Security Officer of Gov Mimiko's convoy has been shot dead by dare-devil armed robbers in Akure, Ondo State.

 

According to a report by Nigerian Tribune, the robbers invaded Sango community, along Akure/Ado Ekiti road, Akure where Idowu Oyewole, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Convoy of Gov Mimiko was murdered.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday night, October 19, 2016, left Oyewole, a Deputy Superintendent of Police lying in his pool of blood after engaging the robbers to a gun duel.

It was further reported that one of Oyewole's sons, who was held hostage by the robbers, was terribly injured as he sustained several machete cuts.

The Ondo State Police Public Relation Officer,(PPRO) Femi Joseph, confirmed the sad occurrence saying the command had commenced investigation into the incident.

Speaking further, Joseph described late Oyewole as a disciplined and hard working officer whose death has left the command in a mourning state.
