Ishaya told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lafia that the Lenten season was not only a period for praying and fasting, but also for giving alms to the needy and the less privileged persons in the society in order to improve their standard of living.

“As you know, we are in a Lenten season, a season to pray, to fast, to seek and reconcile with God if one has done wrong; and it is also a season to show love, affection, charity and to extend hands of friendship to the needy and less privileged in the society.

“I want to use this medium to appeal to the Christians and others Nigerians to pray and assist the less privileged and our brothers and sisters who have been displaced as a result of the security challenges facing some part of the country.

“This is also the time for us to show the Internally Displaced Persons that we love and care for them because they have no homes and God will surely bless us if we assist them, “Ishaya said.

Ishaya also urged the Christians and other Nigerians, to use the lent period to pray for peace to reign in the country.
