‘Boko Haram won’t take any more territories,’ President says

Jonathan also lamented the havoc that the terrorist sect had wreaked on innocent citizens.

Goodluck Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians that Boko Haram would not be allowed to capture any more territories in the country.

The President stated this during a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally in Damaturu, Yobe State.

“As I speak, I am so happy to announce that Yobe has been freed of Boko Haram as all territories earlier under the control of the sect members have been recaptured by our able troops and we will henceforth resist any attempt by the sect members or any group to take control of any of our territory again,” Jonathan said.

“It is unfortunate that our brothers and sisters have turned mad against us and have left us with these sad memories,” he added.

Nigerian troops recently cleared both Yobe and Adamawa of Boko Haram terrorists after liberating communities under the group’s control.
