The Kano State Government is to establish mobile court to try violators of the state environment laws, Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje said.

The Governor made the disclosure when he inaugurated the newly acquired multi-million Naira refuse disposal equipment on Thursday in Kano.

He said the equipment were purchased by the government at the cost of N1.1 billion to enhance refuse disposal in the the city.

He added that the mobile court was necessary in order to check indiscriminate abuse of the state's environment laws, noting that the state government would work with the State House of Assemly with a view to reviewing the existing laws to make them more effective and result-oriented.

According to him, the state government will not fold its arms and allow some few individuals to continue to violate environment laws to the detriment of the entire people of the state.

He said the state government also planned to restructure the state's Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) for effective service delivery.

He charged the management of the Board to imbibe the spirit of maintenance culture to enable the equipment to last long.

Earlier, the Managing Director of the Board, Alhaji Muhammed Kura, had told the governor that the state government spent N1.1 billion on the purchase of the equipment.

He explained that the state government ordered 96 trucks, out of which, only 18 were so far delivered, while the remaining 78 were being awaited.

The equipment, he said, include18 trucks, two bulldozers, four payloaders, 50 tricycles and a filling station with 90,000 litres capacity.
