Three Catholic priests, Rev. Fr. Anthony Dieme, Rev. Fr. Christian Obioha and Rev. Fr. Innocent Obiukwu, have escaped an attack by armed robbers who invaded St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, in Imo State.

According to the Daily Post, the robbers sneaked into the church around 3 AM on Sunday, August 7, 2016, and demanded N5m after taking valuable items such as mobile phones, laptops, wrist watches.
One of the clergymen, Rev. Fr. Innocent Obiukwu, was reported to be visiting the parish when the accident happened.

Obiukwu, according to Vanguard News, had just left the north east of Nigeria, in a bid to survive the attack by Boko Haram members.

DSP Andrew Enwerem, the Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident. He assured reporters that the suspects will be arrested.
