Police arraign woman in court for stealing $5,000

The Lagos State Police has arraigned a woman, Adefunke Afolayan, at the Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing $5,000 belonging to the General Overseer of a popular Pentecostal church.

Afolayan, who worships at the church, has been charged with conspiracy and stealing.

According to the prosecutor, Godwin Oriabure, the suspect and her accomplices committed the crime in December 2015.

Oriabure  said the suspect used the privilege of being close to the clergy to steal the money.

Afolayan was granted bail in the sum of N300,000 with one surety in like sum, after pleading not guilty to the charge. The case has been adjourned till July 1, 2016.
