When Felix leaves his township friends to take up a scholarship at an elitist private school, he defies his mother and turns to two aging members of his father’s old band to help him prepare for the school jazz concert.
That is the tale in this brilliantly produced movie which will obviously make us seek for more. Felix captivates the minds and ideas of an African child and a music lover so perfectly that we wonder how much time, effort and creativity were poured into this single piece. Its star studded with the finest South African actors and eventually exudes a feel of relaxation and a strong admiration for African arts.
It’s a story that demonstrates the power of talent and a strong will to pursue happiness and dreams which the mind has created. Little Felix was an ordinary boy with an extraordinary talent and he delivers his lines like a pro and engaged every single character to his course wonderfully. Hlayani Mabasa (plays Felix) could become the next big thing in the continent and we are watching out for that.
Felix is starring star actress Dame Janet Suzman (from Nuns on the Run), Linda Sokhulu(from Isidingo and Generations) in her feature debut and many more. Felix Comes out on September 13.
