"Pretty Woman" actor Richard Gere, 65, and girlfriend Padma Lakshmi, 44, have reportedly broken up after just six months of dating.
According to reports on New York Post's Page Six, that the couple decided to end their romance due to their respective work commitments.
A source told the paper: "They decided they would be better off as friends."
However, the Celebrity TV Chef host may have hinted about her separation from Richard last week when she announced on TV that she was single.
The couple began dating back in April when the actor was reportedly still going through the of his divorce from his wife of 11 years, Carey Lowell.
Meanwhile Richard became the first man Lakshmi dated since she lost her billionaire boyfriend Teddy Forstmann to brain cancer in 2011.
She was spotted with a happy face as she stepped out in New York City sporting a pair of bright red jeans and coordinating black and red top.
She never looked bothered after the shocking split.
