Life lessons from the World Cup

I am not a football fan. You are more likely to catch me watching movies rather than football, but this World cupRussia 2018 was different. I watched most of the World cup matches including the final match.

I must commend football as a good sport to watch and very thrilling; even with the risks of heart attack involved. You should see me shouting, screaming and panting at the same time.

I didn’t just watch the matches without some life lessons from it.

My introvert side will not even allow me to enjoy the game in peace without this part. Here are my few life lessons from the world cup.

Be a team player:

In football, every player is relevant. The midfielder, striker, defender and goal keeper are all important to win a game. A lag in one area can affect the success of the whole team. Team work is so important. Giroud of France didn’t have a single shot at target but his presence at the game had a lot of impact.

In history, it still remains he is among the team that won the world cup Russia 2018. Be a team player. Don’t be all about yourself. Encourage others and help them grow.

Be humble:

It was really funny to see the likes of Argentina and other powerful countries lose in their group stages. Maybe I need some enlightenment. Is that not the almighty Messi country? The world champs! Be humble. Life is turn by turn. The fact that you are in a position now doesn’t mean you should look down on any one.

Don’t misuse any opportune position. The mighty too falls. Don’t ever look down on anyone. In football, anything is possible. The least likely country to pass group stages have exceeded beyond that. So also is life.

Focus on your happiness:

It is funny how people can easily turn their back on you when you fail. The Nigeria vs Iceland got a lot of people praising Nigeria and then va voom when they were knocked out of the world cup by Argentina. Everyone was criticizing them.

Their past victory didn’t matter any longer. People only care about results. In as much results matter; Focus on your happiness too because nobody really cares as much for you than yourself. At the end of the day, you are only left with yourself

Never overlook anyone:

Don’t ever look down on anyone. In football, anything is possible. The least likely country to pass group stages have exceeded beyond that. So also is life.

Keep upgrading:

Don’t just be contented at being talented. You must never stop improving on yourself. Never stop upgrading. What the world only recognizes is impact and result.

Croatia really played awesomely but obviously the goals say the winner. Your talent is not relevant if it doesn’t yield result.

At the end of world cup Russia 2018, only the winner is celebrated.
