Timeline of how P-Square’s family feud unfolded (2015–2026)

After spending about four years apart as solo acts — Peter Okoye as Mr P and Paul Okoye as Rudeboy — the brothers reunited in November 2021, delighting fans with new music and performances across the world. However, the reconciliation did not resolve the business issues that had fuelled their earlier fallout.

By 2024, the group had split again, and by 2026, the dispute had escalated into fresh public accusations involving both brothers as well as their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye.

Here's a timeline of the major events that have shaped the long-running dispute.

2015: Financial concerns emerge behind the scenes

Although P-Square remained active as a group, tensions began to grow in 2015 after Peter Okoye reportedly questioned suspicious financial transactions involving money withdrawn from the group's joint accounts without his knowledge. The concerns centred on the management of the group's finances under their elder brother and manager, Jude Okoye.

That same year, Jude stepped down as the group's manager amid growing disagreements. Behind closed doors, relationships within the family deteriorated further.

2017: Private conflict becomes public

The family's internal crisis spilled into the public in 2017 after a leaked video from a 2015 meeting surfaced online. The footage showed Peter, Paul and Jude in a heated confrontation at their lawyer's office, where they exchanged insults, threats and nearly came to blows.

The video confirmed years of speculation about tensions within the family and marked the first time fans witnessed the extent of the conflict.

September 2017: P-Square officially splits

In September 2017, Peter Okoye sent a termination letter through the group's lawyer, Festus Keyamo, formally ending P-Square's first run. The split marked the beginning of separate careers, with Peter adopting the stage name Mr P and Paul continuing as Rudeboy.

2021–2022: Reunion raises hope

After four years apart, the brothers reunited in November 2021. They followed each other again on social media, embraced publicly, and announced their comeback.

The reunion produced songs including Jaiye and a series of performances across Africa, Europe and North America. One of the highlights came on November 20, 2022, when P-Square headlined the Buckwyld 'n' Breathless P-Square 4Eva concert in Lagos. Years later, Peter said the reunion restored their relationship as brothers but failed to resolve the underlying business disagreements.

August 2024: Second split becomes public

The reunion collapsed less than three years later. Paul Okoye confirmed during an interview with City FM Lagos that P-Square had ended once again, revealing that Peter informed him he no longer wished to continue as a duo.

Days later, Peter released an open letter detailing his grievances. He accused those around the group of sidelining him, discrediting his contributions and diverting funds belonging to the duo.

April 2026: Peter changes birthday celebration

As the fallout deepened, Peter announced that he would no longer celebrate his birthday on November 18, the date he shares with his twin brother.

Instead, he chose November 30 as his official celebration date, explaining that the decision reflected his desire to completely separate himself symbolically from Paul. He also asked fans not to send birthday wishes or gifts on their shared birth date.

July 2026: Paul reacts to Peter's Igbo language comments

Fresh tensions surfaced after Peter said he did not consider it essential for his children to speak the Igbo language. The comment sparked widespread debate online. Shortly afterwards, Paul appeared to mock his twin on social media, suggesting he could not separate himself from his Igbo identity. Although he did not mention Peter directly, many interpreted the post as another jab at his brother.

2026: Peter makes fresh allegations

In 2026, Peter reignited the family dispute through an eight-part series on social media, where he revisited the events that led to the collapse of P-Square. He accused Jude Okoye of betraying his trust and alleged that Paul sided with their elder brother throughout the dispute. Peter also claimed Jude's wife played a role in some of the business decisions that fuelled the conflict.

Jude denied the allegations and insisted Peter's claims were false. Paul's camp also rejected the accusations, maintaining that the dispute had been repeatedly misrepresented publicly, while the brothers' legal and financial disagreements remained unresolved.
