“I wanted more time for you to meet my second baby” — Ogogo’s daughter pens heartbreaking message

• In an emotional tribute, Kira said she wished she had more time with her father and thanked him for being “the best.”

Kira Taiwo, daughter of late Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has shared an emotional tribute revealing that her father passed away before getting the chance to meet her unborn second child, a loss she described as the deepest form of heartbreak she has ever known.

Taking to Instagram, Kira wrote: "My daddy. THE BEST. I can't even get a hug anymore… This is what heartbreak means, mehn."

She added: "I love you, Daddy, but I just wanted more time, more time, more timeeee to meet my second baby. Thank you ooo TAIYE."

The tribute carries significance given what Ogogo himself had said to her in the weeks before his death. In a message dated July 26, the veteran actor urged his daughter to stay strong, telling her that her tears made it harder for him to fight.

"How are you? I heard you are crying. Seeing you and your sisters smile is making me strong. If you cry, it will make me sad, and I will start to think," he told her. "Be strong. I am strong… don't cry, my princess."

Kira had also previously shared her gratitude to Senator Yayi for his support during her father's illness, one of several public acknowledgements of those who stood by the family during a difficult final period.

Ogogo passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2026, at the age of 66, following a prolonged battle with stage-four cancer. His death came days after Kira and her sister Haleemah made an emotional public appeal for medical assistance, revealing that doctors had determined chemotherapy could no longer be administered due to his deteriorating condition.

The appeal drew widespread support from Nigerians and industry colleagues alike, including Femi Adebayo, who publicly urged his followers to help connect the family with oncology specialists. Despite the outpouring of support, Ogogo did not recover.

He was buried on Monday, August 25, in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, in a ceremony attended by family, colleagues and fans who had followed his four-decade career in Yoruba cinema.

He is survived by his children, including Kira and Haleemah, who have both spoken publicly about their grief in the days since his passing.
