Kaduna man lands in court for destroying fence he shared with neighbour

A 37-year-old man, Yahya Muhammad, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Upper Shari'a court in Tudun wada, Kaduna for allegedly destroying a fence attached to his neighbour's shop.

A 37-year-old man, Yahya Muhammad, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Upper Shari'a court in Tudun wada, Kaduna for allegedly destroying a fence attached to his neighbour's shop.

Muhammad is charged with trespass and illegal destruction of property.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Jamilu Umar, said that the case was first heard on November 30, 2020 but was adjourned sine die.

He said that one Auwal Kura, a resident of Bakin Ruwa, Rigasa on November 24, 2020 at about 11:30 am reported the matter to the Area Command Police station.

He said Kura went to his shop at Bakin Ruwa on November 23 of same year at about 1:15 pm and noticed that the fence between his shop and the defendant's had been demolished.

Counsel to the defendant, Muhammad Uwais, prayed the court to grant his client bail. The judge, Muhammad Iliyasu, asked the prosecutor to produce its witnesses.

The judge admitted the defendant to bail bond of ₦200,000 and adjourned the case to November 20 for the complainant to present his witnesses.
