Son kills mother with baseball bat over bad grades

A 22 year old student Tyler Blansit has beaten his mum after he had a fight with her over his bad grades in college.

He hit her on the head with a baseball bat. According to the DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris Blansit confessed to committing the crime.

The crime scene was described as 'brutal'. Sherry Ann Blansit, 45, was found in the backyard of their family home dead. His father was at work during the murder.

"Usually we'll have calls where a parent has whipped a child because of grades, a child has run away because of bad grades, but we've never had anything like this happen. It's just one of those things you can't explain; we'll never be able to explain what went through his mind, why he snapped and did this" said the Sheriff.

Blansit has now been charged with murder. Before the incident he attended the University of Alabama-Birmingham, as a Biology major.

He had gone home at the end of the spring term.
