The shocking incident happened in the Spanish city of Vitoria-Gasteiz, the capital of the northern Basque Autonomous Community. Metro UK reports.

A 30-year-old man, thought to be a music teacher, has been arrested following the incident.

Reports claim he threw the baby out of a first floor window after the infant’s mother caught him abusing her, though these allegations have not been confirmed by authorities.

A neighbour who saw something fly out of a window, and then fall more than three metres to the street below.

‘I thought it was a doll,’ she said.

Onlookers describe how a police officer covered the motionless baby with his jacket until he got it to the ambulance.

The young girl was transferred to a nearby hospital, but later taken to a specialist intensive care unit at the paediatric ward in another hospital, due to the gravity of her condition.

Anther ambulance took the mother, an 18-year-old Brazilian woman, to the hospital after she sustained multiple injuries, trauma and a reserved prognosis.

The 30-year-old Spanish male has been detained by police and is accused of attempted murder.

The Councillor for Health, Jon Darpon has expressed his regret at a ‘serious and shameful’ occurrence. Metro UK added.
