A businessman, 47-year-old auto mechanic, Peter Adebanji, who allegedly assaulted a businessman, Mr Adegoke Banktaylor,was on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
Police Prosecutor Ishola Samuel told the court that the accused committed the offences  on the Aug. 26 at No.12, Oba Akran Road, Ikeja.
He alleged that the accused assaulted the complainant, Banktaylor, by beating him up and also threatening to attack him with a cutlass.
Samuel said the accused allegedly beat him up because he confronted him when he and some girls were smoking hemp in the compound.
The prosecutor said that the complainant reported the case to the police and the accused was immediately arrested.
The offences contravened Sections 57,168 and 172 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused may be sentenced to three years imprisonment on conviction, according to Section 172.
The auto mechanic, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.R. Onilogbo granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned further hearing in the case until Sept. 20.
