Muslim teacher dies after he tried to protect Christians in al Shabaab terror attack
Muslim teacher who was shot while shielding Christians during an attack by al Shabaab militants is dead. Mirror UK reported.
Salah Farah, 40, was part of a group of commuters who refused to be separated from their Christian colleagues when the bus they were travelling on was ambushed by Somali Islamist terrorists in Kenya in December.
When the Muslims refused to leave, the guman sprayed a hail of bullets at the bus as it drove away, killing two people and injuring three.
Dad-of-five Salah was shot in the arm and taken to a nearby hospital in Mandera before being flown to Nairobi for specialised treatment on Christmas Day .
But officials confirmed to local media that the primary school deputy head died on Sunday, three weeks after he was admitted to the Kenyatta National Hospital.
Cleopa Mailu, the cabinet secretary for ministry of health in Kenya, said staff did all they could but he had 'succumbed to his injuries'.
His brother Rashid told the Kenyan Star he hoped the death would bring religious harmony and encourage Kenyans to live as one community.
Al Shabaab has said it will continue its attacks on Kenya until Nairobi withdraws troops from an African Union force fighting the militants in Somalia.
