This happened after Yusuf dropped the infant on the floor, who reportedly started bleeding from the mouth before it passed away.

The report was confirmed by a woman named Badiyya, who gave the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) a firsthand information concerning the issue.

Yusuf however pleaded not guilty to the charge of negligent conduct, and has been ordered to stay in prison till the case resumes.

According to reports, the offence is punishable under Section 96 of Kano State Sharia Penal Code Law 2000.
