There is nothing like sparking a bit of controversy when making a long-awaited comeback, now is there?
The singer posted the tune entitled “Bow Down/ I Been On”, produced by Hit-Boy and Timberland respectively, on her website with a picture of herself as a little girl posing in a room full of trophies.
But the lyrics to the 3minute, 43 seconds track have left most fans wondering if she actually was been serious. It has divided fans between those who felt it was just been girlie and others who believe its outright offensive.
In the song, Beyonce 31, dished out, “I know when you were a girl, you dreamt of being in my world. Don’t forget it, Respect it. Bow Down b*****s.”
She added, “I took my time to live my life but don’t think I am just his little wife. Don’t get it twisted, it’s my sh**”
The horrible reactions from fans on twitter proved her return hasn’t been greeted with strictly positive comments.
One listener wrote on twitter, ‘how can u sing at the president’s inauguration then release this disgusting, offensive song Beyonce? I’m genuinely shocked.’
Another wrote. “The new Beyonce song is horrid. Unnecessary swearing, offensive misogynistic of women and terrible music and vocals. 0/1000”. Dj Scott Mills of Radio 1 asked “is this Beyonce’s song a joke?”
However, diehard fans fired back. A comment read,” just heard Beyonce’s new song. I feel so bad for every other artist in the game. There is no competition. She reigns supreme”
Whether the new song hits the Billboard Top 10 or not, we might be left with this spine from a fan, “So much for women empowerment”
