Following Lookman's permanent transfer to Atalanta, Rodgers admitted that he wished to bring the Nigerian international to the King Power Stadium on a permanent deal.

When asked if Leicester City are still considering bringing in new signings, Rodgers said: “At this moment in time, I would say no. That was the frustration for us, that with Barnesy out, we didn’t have a direct replacement.

"I would have loved to have signed Ademola who was great here last season and got over 10 goals and assists but we weren’t able to do that."

Rodgers needed Lookman for Brentford draw

Rodgers admitted that failure to sign Lookman made him change his squad's structure as he made only one substitution in the 2-2 draw with Brentford, bringing on Zambian forward Patson Daka for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

"In the last game here we had a couple of injuries, we didn’t have a replacement (for Barnes) to come in, so we had to change the structure, and I thought the players played it really well," Rodgers explained.

"Unfortunately that means we then have to look at the squad and the team and try to adapt, and then put them out to be as best organised as they can be."

Ademola Lookman has a productive season on loan at Leicester City, featuring 51 matches and contributing eight (8) goals and five (5) assists for the Foxes.
