3 brothers face charges after 1 allegedly steals employer's ATM card, withdraws ₦365k
The twins, Taye and Kehinde 22, as well as their younger brother, Isreal Taiwo, 20, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with ₦365,000 theft.
The defendants, all residents of 19, Odunbakun St., Iju- Ishaga, Lagos State, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing. The Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the offences were committed on November 11, 2023, at 18, Ogooluwa St., Iju- Ishaga in Lagos State.
Akeem said that Taye, a hairstylist, allegedly stole an ATM card belonging to his employer, Jumoke Oreofero, and withdrew ₦365,000 from her account.
The prosecutor said that the hairstylist fled from his workplace, but when he was later apprehended, he named his co-defendants as accomplices. The offences Akeem said, contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Chief Magistrate, Bola Osunsanmi granted the defendants ₦50,000 bail each, with two sureties each in like sum. Osunsanmi adjourned the case until February 8 for mention.
