Mob lynches policeman for allegedly killing pregnant woman in Lagos

Bilkis, a tailor was said to be pregnant when she was killed.

Pulse had earlier reported that some operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad killed a woman identified as Bilikis while chasing a suspect in Ijegun area of Lagos State. 

The operatives were reported to have opened fire on the suspect and one of the bullets hit Bilikis in her shop.

A resident who spoke to Punch earlier about the incident said, “The woman was rushed to hospital, where she died. We have taken one of the men. He has been beaten and we want you to come down to see things for yourself.”

Some angry youths thereafter seized one of the policemen and insisted that he must be killed. 

Reacting to the incident, Elkana said the mob has killed one of the police officers and injured two.

According to Punch, he clarified that the police officers involved in the incident were Anti-Kidnapping operatives and not men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad.

He said, He said, “They were Anti-Kidnap, not SARS operatives. We don’t have the details of what happened for now. But the mob has killed one policeman and injured two. The area is still tense. But we are handling it.”
