Herbalist who made charms for robbers declined being used for a test

A herbalist who made medicine for armed robbers bluntly refused being used for a test on the efficacy of the charms.

An armed robbery suspect says his charm failed him and he was arrested.

Fuwad Azeez, who was arrested alongside a gang of robbers, claimed to be a herbalist and has been in the business of preparing protective charms for members of the gang against bullets and knives, but vehemently refused being used as a guinea pig to test the efficacy of his charms.

Azeez, who claimed to be the son of a herbalist, was arrested by officers attached to Denton Divisional Police, after the gang members led by, Kareem Idris alias Aloma, Ramon Sanusi alias Osharemon, Jinadu Mufta alias OmoBaale Oko-Baba, Damilola Small Poly, Muis Alaka, Gafari, Ganiu Garbazine, Ayeke, Azuri Kadri and Toyibu, were arrested after they had carried out a successful robbery operation at Moonshine Hotel, Obalende, on April 8, 2016, where they carted away valuables and money from both workers and lodgers.

Following a tip-off, the police stormed the hotel and caught seven of them while three others escaped. In the course of interrogation by the SARS operatives, Idris recounted how members of the gang met on a football field with Azeez.

They told him to prepare protection charms for each member of the gang and the 22-year-old Azeez, a native of Iseyin, Oyo State, promised to do a good job if they would allow him join the gang.

Having secured their approval, he made charms for protection for every one of them against cutlasses, bullets, bottles and other dangerous weapons.

However, when they were arrested and the police told him they would test the power of the charms on him either by gun shot or a machete cut, Azeez bluntly refused.
