‘Carry valid identification cards all the time’ - Police tells Ikorodu residents

Residents of Ikorodu and its environs in Lagos State have been ordered to carry valid identification cards at all times by the police.

Lagos Police Command PPRO, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole

The directive came following the spate of jungle justice in the area in recent weeks, culminating in the lynching of a popular comedian and Master of Ceremony, Chinedu Paul alias MC Think Twice, who was mistaken for a member of the deadly Badoo Cult gang and burnt to death alongside his friends.

The State Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO], ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole gave the directive in a press release and stated that the move is to serve as one of the security measures put in place to avoid a repeat of such mistaken identities which could lead to avoidable deaths.

According to the release, the new development became necessary because of the series of operations to be carried out by the Command led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations which includes the raiding of notorious hideouts and arresting suspected members of the gang.

The Lagos State Police Command is deeply concerned about the criminal activities in the area which is not only unlawful but also affecting the integrity of the state.

The planned police operations demand residents carry on them a valid form of identification which will be verified, in order not to be restricted or face apprehension as adequate security arrangements have been put in place for the safety of every Nigerian throughout the state by the police and other security agencies.
