BBNaija 2020: Who is Laycon?

'Who is Laycon?' is the title of Laycon's fourth body of work as well as the title and the the opening words to its second track. At its root is the concept of elusive identity and a quest to find the best version of self.

On his fourth EP in four years and after featuring Reminisce and Chino Ekun on 'Fierce,' he was still relatively unknown to the Nigerian mainstream. 'Who Is Laycon?' is then a question to self, a mandate to self for better representation and and introduction to an audience with short attention spans.

In the same vein, 'Who Is Laycon?' is a reaffirmation of identity from a talented, multilingual rapper hoping to break out. With Young, Black and Gifted in close second, Who Is Laycon is Laycon's best body of work and the best representation of everything that this University of Lagos Philosophy graduate is.

The need to be seen has since led him into the Big Brother Naija 2020 house. He has been trolled endlessly on Twitter NG as the male version of the primitive Igbo woman, but the world is finally getting to know who Laycon is. At different times over the past 24 hours, he has been the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter NG and his streams have spiked on Boomplay and Audiomack.

If Any Given Monday was a two-part project by Laycon, his life is about to become to toast of Africa every Monday for the next 12 weeks. Just yesterday, Triller gave him an independent launch. From the rapper who has featured on Vol. 77 and Vol. 93 of Who Get Ear by Pulse Nigeria, this is the opportunity of a lifetime.

Everything seems planned and sponsored by the appropriate machinery to propel Laycon. The plan is simple; Who Is Laycon must not be a thing by the time this rapper comes out of the Big Brother House.
