Team LeBron take on Team Giannis as 2019 NBA All-Star Game takes centre stage
The National Basketball Association (NBA) takes a break as the best players in the league will be taking part in the 2019 NBA All-Star Game.
The 2019 NBA All-Star Game has a special feel this season because unlike last year the player draft was televised with the two captains selecting their teammates in a draft as the traditional east against the western conference has been scrapped.
The team captains were Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and Milwaukee Bucks star of Nigerian descent Giannis Antetokounmpo.
This year the NBA also added special roster veterans added to supplement the 24 All-Star starters and reserves.
Dallas Mavericks Power-Forward Dirk Nowitzki and Miami Heat Guard Dwyane Wade are the special additions to earn All-Star at the end of their careers.

LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving.

Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard, Ben Simmons, LaMarcus Aldridge, Karl-Anthony Towns, Bradley Beal and special addition Dwyane Wade

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, Paul George, Stephen Curry, and Kemba Walker.

Khris Middleton, Nikola Jokic, Russell Westbrook, Blake Griffin, D’Angelo Russell, Nikola Vucevic, Kyle Lowry and special addition Dirk Nowitzki.
Mike Budenholzer will be in charge of Team LeBron while Michael Malone will take charge of Team Giannis.
The 2019 All-Star Date will take place on Sunday, February 17 at the Spectrum Center, Charlotte, North Carolina.
The NBA All-Star Game may be the main event but the NBA All-Star weekend provides several side attractions.
NBA All-Star Celebrity Game
The NBA All-Star Celebrity Game is expected to bring together celebrities from different fields to take part of the All-Star weekend.
This year’s All-Star game has musicians, American football superstars, and movie stars.
The game will hold on Friday, February 15 at the Bojangles' Coliseum -- Charlotte, North Carolina.
Some of the stars that will take part in the game will be features reigning MVP Quavo from Migos, rock and roll artist Daughtry, WNBA All-Star A'ja Wilson and others.
NBA Rising Stars Challenge
The NBA Rising Stars Challenge is another fun event to keep an eye on during the All-Star weekend.
The Rising Stars Challenge game will also take place on Friday, February 15 at the Spectrum Center, Charlotte, North Carolina.
After the sophomore against Rookie game was cancelled last season, the Rising Stars Challenge features the best young players in the league.
The NBA Rising Stars Challenge features the best young Americans in the NBA against the best rookies and sophomores from all parts of the world.
Team world will be coached by veteran Euro superstar Nowitzki while Team World will be coached by Irving.
Team world features OG Anunoby, DeAndre Ayton, Bogdan Bogdanović, Luka Dončić, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Rodions Kurucs, Lauri Markkanen, Josh Okogie of Nigerian descent, Cedi Osman and Ben Simmons.
Team USA features Jarrett Allen, Marvin Bagley III, Lonzo Ball, John Collins, De'Aaron Fox, Jaren Jackson Jr, Kevin Knox, Kyle Kuzma, Donovan Mitchell, Jayson Tatum, and Trae Young.
NBA Skills Challenge
The NBA Skills Challenge will take place on Saturday, February 16 at the Spectrum Center, Charlotte, North Carolina.
The Skills Challenge this season is star-studded and will feature Mike Conley Jr, Luka Dončić, De'Aaron Fox, Nikola Jokić, Kyle Kuzma, Jayson Tatum, Nikola Vučević and Trae Young.
The skills challenges test the participants for their passing, shooting, skills and all-round game drills.
NBA Three-Point Contest
The 33rd edition of the NBA Three-Point Contest will all take centre stage at the Spectrum Center, Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday, February 16.
This year’s edition will feature 10 participants for the first time with Stephen Curry and Seth Curry set to become the first brothers to compete in the same year.
Other participants are Devin Booker, Danny Green, Joe Harris, Buddy Hield, Damian Lillard, Khris Middleton, Kemba Walker and former winner Dirk Nowitzki.
The three-point contest will involve participant trying to get as many points from the three-point line from five balls in five different racks.
NBA Slam Dunk Contest
The NBA Slam Dunk Contest will hold at the Spectrum Center, Charlotte, North Carolina also on Saturday, February 16.
The participants are Miles Bridges, John Collins, Hamidou Diallo, and Dennis Smith Jr.
The participants will get two dunks each to showcase their skills to the judges and excite the crowd before the final rounds.
