The home and away fixture against Ethiopia is the final round of the qualification series for the World Cup.

Flamingos get win against Ethiopia

After defeating Egypt in the last round, only Ethiopia stands in the way of the Flamingos and a place at the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup scheduled to take place in India later this year.

The game against Ethiopia at the Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa started off with the home side dominating proceedings.

The Flamingos settled into the game and would take the lead in the 36th minute through striker Opeyemi Ajakaye.

The Flamingos went to the break with the advantage and withstood pressure from the Ethiopians to start the second half.

The Flamingos were unable to add to their goal missing some clear cut chances as they settled for a narrow away victory.

The Flamingos will now face Ethiopia in the return ;leg scheduled to take place at the 60,000 capacity MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Saturday, June 4, 2022.
