Did ex Governor lie about his wrist watch?

Peter Obi says he's worn one wrist watch for 17 years and we actually believe him.

Mr. Peter Obi, Ex-Governor of Anambra State, Addressing the audience at the Platform, 2017

That was Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State.

The quote above earned him plenty of applause and cheers.

He also spoke about owning just two pairs of shoes.

"I have said it to Nigerians, Peter Obi wears only black shoes, and I have two pairs of it, and I travel with it. The purpose of shoe is to protect the leg from being hurt. Nothing else. I bought this from Marks and Spencer, $49.99, finish,” he said.

But was his audience sold a lie on the wrist watch part?

He was speaking at The Platform, a symposium organised annually by the Covenant Christian Center.

Obi was Governor of Anambra at various times between 2006 and 2014.

He's become the poster child for austerity and accountability in public office since he left government house in Awka.

At last year's Platform, Obi undefinedthat got everyone talking.

He was upheld soon after that rousing speech as the prototype for Governors and public office holders alike in Nigeria.

But when on Monday, May 1, 2017, Obi said he's only worn one wristwatch for 17 years, the internet didn't agree.

That means Obi has been wearing the same wrist watch since 2000.

These are all recent images of Obi.

We aren't really into wrist watches around here, so maybe we really are dead wrong even about this one not looking like the others...

Or do we need new pair of glasses at

Or maybe Obi changes the clock plate and straps of his wrist watches annually?
