IG urges POWA to patronise police health scheme

The police boss said that the scheme was beneficial to families of officers and men who had cued into it.

Idris made the call when a delegation of the Association led by its National President, Mrs Asmau Idris, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja on Friday.

He said their patronage would enhance the scheme as more support would be given to it by relevant agencies in the country.

He added that an audit report of all police investments was being awaited to reposition all police assets.

He said that the force would do all it could to support the Association to actualise its vision of establishing a school and and a health facility.

The I-G also said that the force would support the Association to establish a skills acquisition centre to build capacities of members of the force in particular and Nigerians in general.

He urged members of the Association to cue into the force’s core values and advised them to support their husbands and cooperate with one another to avoid anything that would cause disaffection among them.

He said “I want you to cooperate and avoid rancour in the association.

“You must change in line with the current police administration.”

Earlier, the POWA national president had appealed to the police management to complete the Association’s women and children hospital project.

She said that the project was geared toward the promotion of maternal health in the country.

She announced that the Association was planning to restore the culture of proper and effective barracks inspection across the country.

She urged the police authourity to ensure that gratuities of policemen who died in the line of duty were paid to their spouses to alleviate their hardships.

She pledged the Association’s unflinching support and loyalty to the police management.
