Governor vows to arrest Arewa youths over quit notice on Igbos

Governor El-Rufai said this while speaking with members of the Igbo Delegate Assembly and Northern Igbo Chiefs.

Mr. Nasir El-Rufai

El-Rufai said this while speaking with members of the Igbo Delegate Assembly and Northern Igbo Chiefs at government house, Kaduna, on Tuesday, June 20, 2017.

The Governor also said that his government will not tolerate inciting comments that can cause troble in the state.

The Coalition of Northern Youths(CNY) had earlier given Igbos in the North a 90-days ultimatum to relocate.

Speaking further, El-Rufai said “We are going to arrest the Arewa Youth and bring them to justice no matter how long it takes. Since the press conference was done in Kaduna.

“If they had done it in any other place, we would have just condemned them but since it’s in Kaduna, we are going to arrest them.”

Governor El-Rufai’s recent comment is coming weeks after he reportedly ordered security operatives to arrest the youths who issued the ultimatum.
