‘Nigerians can’t eat yet government wants to spend N40M on animals,’ Senator says

According to the senator, who represents the Bayelsa East Senatorial District, the sum is stated in the 2017 budget.

He made the comments via Twitter on Thursday, February 16.

“It breaks my heart that at a time when many Nigerians can’t eat we are budgeting N40 million to feed wildlife in Aso Rock Presidential Villa,” he tweeted.

“At N510 to a dollar, #BuyNaijaToGrowTheNaira is no luxury, it is not even a necessity. Nigeria has reached the stage where it’s a necessity,” he added.

Senator Dino Melaye has also criticized the government over the 2017 budget due to criminal additions in the document.

Melaye also condemned the outrageous amounts budgeted for food and entertainment by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the federal government.
