Senate to begin debate on January 19

The Nigerian Senate will begin consideration of the 2016 budget proposal on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.

This was disclosed by Senate President, Bukola Saraki during the plenary session of the upper chamber today, January 13.

“Senate President @bukolasaraki announces that the debate of #2016AppropriationBill will commence on Tuesday 19th January 2016,” the Senate wrote via its Twitter handle.

The news comes after widespread reports that the 2016 budget had gone “missing” from the National Assembly.

The reports have however been denied by Senate Leader, Ali Ndume who was said to have made the announcement of the document’s “disappearance”.
