This work of art is inspired by a mischievous door proposal for an apartment building in Manhattan in 1972.

The large sculpture shows a huge unclothed, 30 foot tall derriere that protrudes from a huge brick wall, with its owners palms spreading the cheeks apart.

From today, September 27, 2016, the Tate Britain will exhibit the works of the four shortlisted artists for 2016's Turner Prize.

The huge butt is part of a sculpture that is named 'Project for a Door' by Anthea Hamilton. The artwork is inspired by an Italian artist and designer, Gaetano Pesce. Pesce's 1972 proposal for a doorway in a Manhattan apartment building was never actualized.

This year’s Turner Prize show is different and notable because most of the artists featured are women. The featured artists are Michael Dean, Anthea Hamilton, Helen Marten and Josephine Pryde.
