Zak Brown: The Virtual Safety Car Was Brutal to Us

The timing of the safety car deployments at the Madring track during the Spanish Grand Prix was simply "brutal" today. That's the assessment of McLaren CEO Zak Brown after the race.

"The Virtual Safety Car was brutal to us," Brown theatrically declared. "Lando passed, the team did an excellent job, and the Virtual Safety Car appeared two seconds later, then disappeared two seconds before we pitted."
"There was nothing we could do. I'm glad Lando fully understood the situation over the radio. This would have been our race, with a 20-25 second lead."
Lando was dominating, he had pulled away. He managed his tires brilliantly; no one else could catch him."
