Dos Santos sustained severe burns in the bar fire at the Crans-Montana ski resort in the early hours of January 1st, an incident that claimed 41 lives and injured over 100. "This moment holds even more special significance after the difficult months I spent in the hospital. This ordeal has made me stronger and taught me never to give up," Dos Santos commented in a club statement.

The French teenager, who has Cape Verdean heritage, joined the club at just eight years old. His return to action on April 11th was in the fifth tier of local football. Meanwhile, Metz currently sits at the bottom of the Ligue 1 standings and is set for relegation to the second division.
